The Parents' Association welcomes you to the 2009-2010 school year!
We are here to facilitate an organized dialogue among parents, teachers and the administration, and to support Nichols. Every parent of a student is a member of the Parents' Association, with the Parents' Council serving as its governing body. You are welcome and encouraged to attend the scheduled meetings listed below. This year, featured speakers from the Nichols Arts program and our newest initiative, the Global Studies Diploma will provide us with news about exciting happenings on our campus. In addition Headmaster Rick Bryan will give a tour of the new Science and Math complex, Center 63, to those parents attending the first Parents' Association Meeting on September 15! Mark your calendars - meetings are held in Mitchell Hall on the following dates:
- Tuesday, September 15, 4 p.m.
- Tuesday, November 3, 8 a.m.
- Wednesday, January 13, 4 p.m.
- Wednesday, March 10, 8 a.m.
- Tuesday, May 18, 4 p.m.
Volunteer Opportunities are always available with various projects throughout the year and it's the best way to get to know other parents and build community within the school. Your involvement is meaningful to your child and invaluable to our school, as well as being a good way to obtain practical information and share your experiences with other parents. Volunteer time is flexible and we encourage you get involved - it's helpful, rewarding and FUN!
School Web Site and E-mail
As Nichols "goes green," we will be using our school website at www.nicholsschool.org more often to communicate what's happening on our campus - please bookmark the address as we hope you will be using it often! The Parents' Association encourages all parent to visit the Parent Portal to get class news, announcements and details of scheduled events (there is a link to the Parent Portal on our main website in the top right hand corner).
On a weekly basis, e-mail updates will be sent home, but almost everything will be available to you on the Nichols Website or the Parent Portal. Also PLEASE MAKE SURE THE SCHOOL HAS YOUR LATEST E-MAIL ADDRESS! Any changes to you personal information should be provided to Gyda Higgins in Development.
